Amy butler Floor Inspired Pillows

I just love Amy Butler! I love her fabric and adore her pillows! I wanted to make a beautiful floor pillow but didn't have her pattern so I did some trial and error and discovered it was very easy! Just cutting triangles and sewing together. here's what I did:

Materials:
1: 1yard of fabric (all different patterns...Amy butler patterns of course!)
2: triangle template (you can make this on your own)
3: Two buttons

To make your own template I measured the triangles 6" across (the top) and 11" down.

Cut out 12 of these for the top pillow piece and 12 for the bottom pillow piece. So you need 24 triangles total.

Arrange your triangles to make a beautiful pattern!

    Iron your triangles

If you want your pillow to have a pattern I suggest numbering your triangles in order on the back of the fabric. Things can get a little hectic with 24 triangles all over your work space!

Now take 6 triangles and sew them right sides together.

Take your other 6 triangles and sew them right sides together.
You want two halves of 6 triangles. So two pieces (each having 6 triangles)

Now sew the two pieces together to make a circle. Make sure you sew them right sides together.
Do not worry if your ends do not match up perfectly, the button solves that problem!!

This is what you should have so far.

Button Time! Sew your Button in the center. This gathers all the ends and makes your circle look neat and complete!

  LOOKING PRETTY!

Now repeat all steps with your other twelve triangles.

You should now have two circles. (both with buttons!)

Sew the two circles right sides together. Pin to keep in place. Leave one panel open (about 3 inches).

Hand stitch the opening closed, use pins to help you.

CONGRATS!!!!!!! YOU ARE DONE!!!!!!!

Enjoy!! :)
