Little Princess Bed Canopy

Making a bed canopy is easier than it looks and is very cost friendly!

Materials:
Tulle: (4 yards-one yard of each color)
Embroidery Hoop: I am using size 12 ( you can also use a hoola hoop if you want a bigger canopy or make it into a tent.)
Satin or fabric: (for the top) Ribbon

Measure out 5 inches of your tulle and fold over. Pin in place.

Sew the tulle so you have a long loop.
Unscrew the embroidery hoop and disconnect them.
You only need one hoop. You can save the other hoop for another canopy or project :)
Insert and slide the hoop into the tulle loop then lock in place. (or hot glue)
Now to make the top part. Cut out 7 triangles 7x4 (7" on the sides and 4" across) *THIS IS FOR A SIZE 12 EMBROIDERY HOOP* you will have to make your circle bigger or smaller if you are using a different size, but that is just a bit of trial and error no biggie!
Sew three triangles wrong sides together (back side of fabric) Then Sew the remaining 4 triangles together.
Now sew the two pieces to make one circle.
Take a piece of bias tape, scrap fabric, binding or anything else you would like to use as a hanger and place it up through the middle of your circle. (THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL HANG YOUR CANOPY FROM SO MAKE SURE IT IS THE RIGHT LENGTH FOR YOUR ROOM. I like mine to be about 7inches so I use a 14inch piece of bias tape and fold it in half.
Now sew the Bias tape in place on the inside of your fabric.
Here is the fun part. You can decorate your top with rick rack, ribbon, trimming, fabric flowers or anything your little princess thinks is magical.
You can get as complicated or simple as you want. You're the artist here :) I like the look of ribbon so I will now sew on a strip of ribbon along the bottom boarder.

Place the top over the hoop and pin it in place. Now hand sew along the bottom to secure the top onto the tulle. Make any adjustments. Congrats! You did it!!!! Enjoy!! :)
